I own a rotary old phone from the 70 ies that i love and would like to keep using, the problem is that it uses pulse instead of tone, and is not compatible with modern networks, i have done some research, and it looks like i need a pulse to tone converter which are no cheap (surprisingly).
Does Shaw sell these or does anyone know a place here in Calgary that sells new old stock of old phone equipment?
thanks
@kali1 Sorry, we do not provide or sell pulse to tone converters.
The pulse dial should work without a converter, the problem is the phone probably won’t ring.
it does not dial nor ring unfortunately, i have tried everything i found on the internet, i can hear the line tone, but when i dial it just does not do anything...
Are you dialing properly?!?! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HyyAlcoUXo ) 😁
Funny video, but I grew up in the 70ies, i spent my childhood with these rotary phones, modern phone lines are digital tone based and these rotary dial phones use pulse not tones, for this to work, the line needs to interpret each dial as a tone corresponding to a number which is not the case here, when i finish dialing all my numbers nothing is being dialed just a continuous tone.
