This page provides the information that you will need to change your WiFi password on an Arris Advanced Wireless Modem. To change the password you will need to log into the admin console which will allow you to configure various settings related to your wireless network. Before proceeding, ensure that you have an Ethernet cable connecting your modem to your computer/laptop.

How to change the WiFi password on an Arris modem

Your WiFi network password is the password you use to connect to the WiFi network provided by your SBG6782 modem. To change the password for your WiFi network you will need to log into the SBG6782 modem configuration page which will allow you to configure various settings related to your WiFi network. To change your network password:


    1. Open an Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc...) and navigate to the address bar at the top of the page. Enter the following:, and then hit the enter key on your keyboard: home ip address


    2. Log in to the Advanced WiFi modem page with the following information:

      • Username: cusadmin (must be lowercase)

      • Password: Enter the Passphrase as found on the white sticker on the top or side of the WiFi modem. Enter the information exactly as it appears on the modem (this information is case sensitive) 

    3. Select Manage Wi-Fi Network from the Launch Quick Start Wizard

    4. In the Passphrase field, enter your preferred WiFi network password

      • If you would like to change the network password for your 5 GHz network, select the "5 GHz" tab before altering the channel

    5. Select Apply to save your changes

If you would like to restore settings to its default you can do so by performing a pin-hole reset on the modem. Please be aware that this reset will restore all customized settings, including WiFi channel and network name.


It is always a good idea to document your WiFi settings just in case you forget them or are required to re-enter your WiFi password in the future.
