Shaw open on iPhone

I have an iPhone8.  For the past few months whenever I am away from home and my phone automatically connects to Shaw Open, I am unable to access the internet.  Although the wifi shows the connection is there, when I try to acess Google or any website I get a message saying that the network is insecure and it will NOT allow me to connect with anything at all.  It is very frustrating and I can't figure out how to get around it.  I know it is not a secure network but it should be my decision as to whether I choose to use it.  It seems like Apple won't allow it. How do I reset the phone to make it work?

@DB49 -- try accessing an "insecure" web-site, such as: http://www.apple.ca

to see if you can connect, and to see if your web-browser redirects to https://www.apple.com/ca/
