> Why is Skype freezing?
Many possibilities:
- the other person's computer has a problem, causing their computer to stop sending.
- the other person's Internet connection is flaky.
- both you & the other person are connected to Skype's server. It could have the above issues.
- your Internet connection is flaky.
- your computer has a problem, causing your computer to stop receiving.
- your computer is "busy" with background tasks that are consuming all your Internet bandwidth, leaving no bandwidth for traffic from Skype. Sample tasks: Windows Update, Adobe Reader update, anti-virus update, OneNote update. Your computer's processor (and disk-drive) are busy with these updates, or running a virus-scan.
- Your computer's disk-drive is having a problem -- it takes 20 to 100 times the "normal" milliseconds to read/write some of the sectors. Windows is "waiting" that extended time for the I/O to complete.
Using Skype requires two computers in perfect condition, plus rock-steady Internet connections on both computers.
