Third Party Modem with "Fibre" service?

I'm wondering if I can use something like this instead of the bluecurve modem:

https://www.amazon.ca/NETGEAR-Gigabit-Download-1-4Gbps-Certified/dp/B07QK2XP6Z/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&k...

Anyone confirm?

@rmartinson -- that web-page states: Support Cable Internet Service plans up to 500 Mbps. Separate router required for WiFi.

Is that what you want?

My monthly Shaw invoice shows:

Advanced WiFi Modem Rental $4.00

Advanced WiFi Modem Rental Discount - 2-year ValuePlan -$4.00

Thus, the "net" that I pay for the "rented" Hitron cable-modem is ZERO.

So, why do you want to spend over $200 (US?), and then buy your own WiFi-capable router?

Note that this is a peer-to-peer discussion forum, not a path to Shaw Support.

So, while reading this message, scroll-down to see:

Click that "Your Voice" hyperlink to contact Shaw, to ask if they will support that cable-modem on their network.
