Automatic APN Configuration
When you first connect to the Shaw Mobile network, you should receive a text message with instructions for how to automatically configure your phone's APN settings. Accept the notification to complete the installation.
You can always request our network APN's by following the steps below:
- Create a new text message to the following short code: 41111
- In the message, type: setup
- Press Send
and
- Create a new text message to the following short code: 40001
- In the message, type: sim
- Press Send
If your phone still does not receive the settings, you may need to manually make the changes. The steps to update the APN configuration depend on the type of phone you are using.
Manual APN Configuration for Android
To manually configure the APN settings on your Android 4.0 and newer, follow the general steps below.
Tip: The location of these settings may vary depending on what phone you're using.
Internet Setup
- Enter Settings
- Select Network and Internet
- Select Mobile Networks and select your Shaw number if displayed
- If you have a dual SIM phone, select your Shaw number and proceed to step 4
- Tap on Advanced
- Ensure Mobile Data is enabled
- Select Access Point Names
- Create a new APN by selecting Menu, followed by New APN
- Enter Data as the name for the new APN
- Under the headings APN enter wsp.shaw.ca
- Under MCC, enter 302
- Under MNC, enter 490
- Save the APN settings by selecting menu and then save
Picture Messaging (MMS)
- Enter Settings
- Select Network and Internet
- Select Mobile Networks and select your Shaw number if displayed
- If you have a dual SIM phone, select your Shaw number and proceed to step 4
- Tap on Advanced
- Ensure Mobile Data is enabled
- Select Access Point Names
- Create a new APN by selecting Menu, followed by New APN
- Enter MMS as the name for the new APN
- Enter the following information in the listed headings:
- APN: mms.shaw.ca
- MMSC: http://mms.shaw.ca
- MMS Proxy: 74.115.197.70
- MMS Port: 8080
- MCC: 302
- MNC: 490
- APN Type: MMS
- Leave all other fields blank
Updating your Carrier Bundle for iPhone
You should automatically receive the latest Shaw Mobile Carrier Bundle update once you insert your Shaw Mobile SIM into your iPhone or activate your Shaw Mobile eSIM. For more information check out How To: Update your iPhone Carrier Bundle.
If you are having issues accessing data on an iPhone you brought with you to Shaw Mobile, please follow the steps below:
- Go to Settings
- Tap on General
- Tap on Profile
- Remove the previous profile by tapping on it and then tapping Remove Profile
- Data should be working now.
Note: For new Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) customers, ensure the Shaw Mobile Carrier Bundle is installed before or after this process. If no configuration profile is installed, you will not be able to see the Profile option within the Settings screen.
