Do I have any control over what gets displayed when I call someone on Shaw Mobile? Right now it shows I am calling from Abbotsford. That is not true.
@Yakpi -- when I signed-up with Shaw Mobile, I set the "Caller-ID" information to show my telephone-name, and my name.
Did you do that, or did you choose "private"? If the latter, then what network is the call-recipient using? It is possible that their network is supplying the "Abbotsford" information.
I have asked Shaw many times to help me fix this and they haven't got a clue how to control it; and could not pass me up to someone who can.
I hope the new owners; Rogers, can finally fix my outgoing call display!
@texduc -- when you sign-up with Shaw Mobile (now Rogers Mobility), you can choose what "Caller-ID" information is sent to the party you are calling. You can use "Private" instead of some variant of your name. You can also use "Private" instead of showing your telephone-number when calling your party.
Use of "Private/Private" is used by some divorce lawyers, when calling a client, when they want to talk to ONE spouse, and DEFINITELY not the OTHER spouse. If the divorce lawyer is representing a female, and a male answers, they will hang up. Or, vice-versa, of course. Ditto for other non-binary couples sharing one land-line.
So, even if Shaw has not already "invited" you to migrate from Shaw Mobile to Rogers Mobility, take 2 pieces of ID (one with your picture) and any of your Shaw Mobile invoices to any Rogers store-front, and initiate the migration. You'll be asked what "Caller-ID" information that you want to show when you call somebody. First initial and last name? First name & last name? "Donald and Ivanka" ? "Fred & Wilma" ? 🙂 Anything is better than your called party's telephone-provider "guessing" that your telephone-number is located in the Abbotsford area. Whatever monthly-rate you have been paying to Shaw Mobile will be the monthly-rate that you will pay to Rogers Mobility, until April 5, 2028.
