Once again, while travelling on the National network, from Lethbridge to Clairsholme recently...my with had nil cell signal to a maximum of 1 bar. We have talked to a support person previously about a similar issue on a previous trip she made....and it only got worse. She now wants to dump her Shaw phone plan due to lousy reception.
I also lost my phone/internet connection on the outskirts of Lethbridge a couple of weeks ago. Not impressed. Also had issues in South Calgary in the Mahogany area....
@Ian_T -- while travelling on the National network, from Lethbridge to Clairsholm recently...my [wife?]had nil cell signal to a maximum of 1 bar.
If her phone had "roamed" onto the "nationwide" network, then it was not connecting to any of Shaw's cell-phone towers. So, you cannot blame the (alleged) scarcity of Shaw's towers for the issue.
I don't know how to tell if "nationwide" connects to either the Bell/Telus or the Rogers cell-phone towers along her route.
From: https://www.telus.com/en/mobility/network/coverage-map
I see:
Purple: 5G / Green: LTE
It seems like there is 5G coverage (purple) or LTE (green) coverage by Telus along the route(s).
So, if she wants to switch, then Telus should meet her requirement.
The Rogers coverage-map: https://www.whistleout.ca/CellPhones/Guides/rogers-coverage-map
seems equally "dense" in southern Alberta.
