I'm out of the country and Shaw says roaming is not available in my location. I bought a local physical sim and I have Shaw as my esim. I have no bars reception on my Shaw esim, but I'm able to make and receive calls from my Shaw number. It says "Shaw using Cellular Data" next to my zero bars of reception. Does anyone have any insight into what is happening here? I can make and receive calls whether I'm connected to wifi or not, so that's not how I'm able to call.
@ryan808 -- I bought a local physical SIM
Is that the SIM that your phone is using to "make and receive calls" ?
when you call to somebody in Canada, does your Caller-ID show as the Shaw telephone-number as per your eSIM, or a different telephone-number given to you by the provider of the physical SIM?
My local physical sim can't make international calls. If I try to call Canada it doesn't work, so I have to use the Shaw sim. Call ID for the receiver shows up as my Shaw number.
I think I have the answer though, apparently if the esim has no network it will use data from the physical sim to establish a network connection.
