With Ignite TV you have access to the most intelligent search functionality on a set-top-box. Find your content easier with a smarter search experience. The Ignite TV search feature predicts what you’re looking for so you can get instant results with less typing. This article will show you how to access the search and discovery functionality of Ignite TV, and how to see program recommendations on your digital cable box.

How to access Smart Search

To access the search functionality for Ignite TV you can use voice commands using the Voice remote or you can:

Search using the remote's keypad

You can search for a channel number, program title, network name, actor, or team name by typing using the alphanumeric guide on the remote’s keypad. For example, press “226” for "The Fight Network" or use the numbers to spell the words you are looking for, such as "4263" for Game of Thrones.

Search from the Main Menu

With Ignite TV, you can experience faster searches by searching directly from the main menu. To search directly from the Main Menu:

  1. Press the Shaw button on the remote, use the left and right arrows to navigate to Search.
  2. From here, you can use the on-screen letters to type in what you're looking for or start pressing the keys on your remote that correspond to what you want to type.

 The Ignite TV remote uses predictive search technology to save you from typing full search queries so you can get instant results with less typing.

Search while browsing the Guide

While browsing the guide, you can also quickly search for a channel number, program title, sports team or network name, simply by beginning to type with the remote. The same predictive searching method described above can also be used in this view. To search while browsing the guide:

  1. Press the Shaw button on the remote.
  2. Using the right arrow or left arrow button navigate to Guide.
  3. Press OK (or alternatively you can access the Guide by pressing Guide button on the remote.
  4. To search for a channel number, use the remote’s number keys to enter the channel number. 133275_bluesky-tv-guide-search
  5. You can also search for a channel by typing the channel name using the alphanumeric guide on the remote’s keypad. For example, press “203” for "Sportsnet".
  6. When the channel appears in the Guide Search window, press the OK button on your remote to go to your selected channel.

Search using the Shaw button on the remote

  1. Press the Shaw button on the remote.
  2. Using the right arrow or left arrow button navigate to Search.
  3. Press OK
  4. From here, you can search from the Main Menu where you have multiple search options including:
    • you can use the on-screen letters near the top of the Menu to type in what you're looking for, or
    • start pressing the keys on your remote that correspond to what you want to type.

How to access Last Watched

Program discovery is easy with the Ignite TV Guide. Need quick access to watch a different episode of a program that you recently watched? Try using the Last Watched Experience to quickly access your favorite shows based on your viewing activity.

Last Watched Feature

The Ignite TV Guide has an innovative "Last Watched" feature that not only allows you to jump back and forth between channels, but actually displays active information about the last nine channels, recordings, or On Demand programs that were viewed.

  • Press the LAST key on your remote to access the Last Watched screen
  • Use the left and right arrows to navigate, press OK to select a program or channel

To clear the Last Watched Screen:

  • Press the LAST key on the remote
  • Use the left arrow or right arrow buttons on the remote to highlight a channel or program and press the D button to clear it

Note: Pressing the Last button will also take you to the previous menu or screen when in the Guide or Settings.

How to access recommended content

Not only does the Ignite TV Guide have smarter search and discovery options, but the Guide also makes recommendations based on your viewing activity. With Next Episode Recommendations and For You, you can enhance your normal TV viewing experience.

Next Episode Recommendations

Binge watching of a favorite TV series is on the rise. In support of a binge-worthy viewing experience, the Guide will automatically ask if you'd like to play the next episode of a series. 

You can turn the Next Episode Suggestion on or off by following these steps:

  1. Press the Shaw button on the remote control.
  2. Use the left or right arrow buttons to navigate to Settings (the gear icon). Press OK.

  4. Select General and press OK.
  5. Use the down arrow button to highlight Next Episode Suggestions133279_bluesky-tv-next-episode-suggestion-off

  7. Press Exit to exit the settings.

For You

The For You feature displays TV shows and movies that have been recently recorded or watched. The For You section also features personalized recommendations based on titles that you have recently viewed. To Access the For You feature

  1. Press the Shaw button on your remote.
  2. Using the right arrow or left arrow button navigate to Saved. Click OK.
  3. You will see the For You option highlighted.  Note:  For you will not always be highlighted, the menu goes to the last location that you were in, which will not always be For You.  In this case, you will have to scroll to For You. 133282_bluesky-tv-for-you

     

  4. Use the down arrow button to scroll down the For You section to access the following information:
    • Just Recorded displays recently recorded shows. Note: If you select the “Delete” option you will remove it both from the Just Recorded row and your PVR.
    • Recently Watched displays your last viewed programs and resume points for the past year, which includes recently recorded and viewed programs, as well as current rentals. Marking content as Unwatched will remove it from the Recently Watched row.

Did you know: You can quickly access For You by saying "For you" to the Voice remote.
