Learn how to adjust the screen resolution in Ignite (formerly BlueCurve) TV. There are two ways to adjust your screen resolution from your Ignite TV device. Some devices may require different screen resolutions to properly display with your Ignite TV device. The default resolution is 720p.
Adjusting resolution via the settings menu
You can adjust your screen resolution in Ignite TV by using the settings menu.
- Press the Shaw button on your remote.
- Use the arrow buttons to highlight Settings (the gear icon). Press OK.
- Select Device Settings. Press OK.
- Use the down arrow button to select Video Display. Press OK.
- Use the down arrow to select Video Output Resolution. Press OK and choose the appropriate resolution:
- 4:3, 480p SD
- 16:9, 720p HD
- 16:9, 1080i HD
- 16:9, 1080p60 HD
- 16:9, 2160p30 HD
- 16:9, 2160p60 HD
- Press Exit to return to the current program you are watching or press Last to return to the Video Display options menu.
Note: If you set the resolution for higher than your TV can manage you will be faced with a black screen. You will need to adjust the resolution accordingly.
Adjusting resolution settings via the remote control
This option should primarily be used if you're unable to make the change via Settings Menu and you currently have no display on your TV. The box will need to be powered on for the below steps to work. Steps for each resolution vary slightly:
4:3, 480p SD
- Press Exit three times
- Press 4 - 8 - 0
16:9, 720p HD
- Press Exit three times
- Press 7 - 2 - 0
16:9, 1080i HD
- Press Exit three times
- Press 1 - 0 - 8 - 0
16:9, 1080p60 HD
16:9, 1080p HD cannot be set manually from the remote control command.
- Press Exit three times
- Press 1 - 0 - 8 - 0
- Wait for picture to display before proceeding to next step
- Press the Shaw Button on your remote
- Select Settings
- Select Device Settings
- Select Video Display
- Select Video Output Resolution and choose 16:9, 1080p60
- Select Yes when prompted "Do you want to keep this resolution?"
- Press Exit to return to programming.
