Hi there, has there been any word on when or if the 3400 and 3510 cable boxes, will get more HD versions of the existing SD channels. If you look at the Total TV package lineup, it shows lots of channels in HD, that the above boxes don't get in that format.
Shaw has retired older TV terminals: Legacy TV box upgrade program
and will be retiring more equipment, later this year, and in 2021.
Take that as a "hint" that you should talk to Shaw about switching to the Gateway PVR or to the BlueCurve PVR.
Hi there, I couldn't see the 3400 or the 3510 boxes mentioned in the pending retirement section and as far as I recall, they are both mpeg 4 capable. It would be nice if they were also able to have the additional HD feeds, especially since they aren't being turfed anytime soon.

Unfortunately this seems to be the correct response. When BlueCurve added all those HD channel upgrades ( over 80 SD channels finally got their HD version added ) last July I called in and asked if any of those new HD channels would be added to the Gateway system. At the time I was told that there was " a chance that some of them " might be added to the Gateway system but not right away. Well now I'm being told that there is " next to no chance " that any new HD channels will ever be added to the Gateway system so I would guess that would also be the same for the 3400 and the 3510 cable boxes. Basically the BlueCurve is now SHAW's preferred system and anybody that uses another cable box is simply SOL. 😡
Which channels are you referencing to?

If you are talking to me then here's the list:
SD to HD channel upgrades
As of December 5, 2019, BlueCurve TV customers in Vancouver, Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and select surrounding areas can access the following channels in High Definition. Note: Regional restrictions apply. Visit shaw.ca to check channel availability in your area.

It is most likely a bandwidth issue that they can't deliver these through past-generation equipment....?
Also, isn't Shaw government regulated to carry "JoyTV HD" in the local areas that they serve regardless of customer hardware? Only the SD version is carried for those without BlueCurve.
