Remote was working fine. A week ago the power & volume stopped working. Picked up a new Remote from Shaw. The new Remote is doing the same. Power & volume not working. Help! I hate having to use 2 remotes.

After un-pairing and pairing the remote again (directions here https://bit.ly/3qZ4ZoT) I would recommend getting in touch with support and they can check it out further.
@Khour22 -- as @shaw-don wrote, "pairing" is the solution.
The Shaw remote accepts most of the button-pushes, and sends to the Shaw box to take an action, such as channel up/down, FF/Rewind/Pause, et cetera.
The exceptions are power on/off, mute, volume up/down -- after "pairing", it is those button-pushes that send the correct signals to the TV.
Your "next" remote will need to be "paired".
