1.  When say 10 min into a one hour program, does it record from the beginning?

2. How long (approx) does a one hour program take to download and record?  1 min? 60 min?

Older PVRs supported the "rewind" function -- it would automatically record the channel that you were watching, to allow you to repeatedly use the "back 15 seconds" and "back 5 minutes" buttons on the Shaw remote-control. If your PVR had two tuners (to let you watch one show while recording a different channel),the PVR supported this "back" functionality on both channels.

So, if you press the "record this program" button, the PVR would record as much of that program that is "buffered", plus the rest of the program.

Note the difference between "buffering a channel" and "recording a program (on that channel)".

In fact, at 10 minutes into a program, the "back" button could even be used to watch the last few minutes of the previous program on the same channel.

Exactly one hour, for a one hour program, just like an old VCR. 🙂
