Moving my Satellite dish?

My dish is mounted on the side of my deck. I would like to install a 6 X 6 post, and raise my dish approximately 8 feet

straight up in approximately the same spot. Would this change my satellite settings? What about additional cable, can

I use a coupler to attach the additional cable or should I get full length of new cable?

Yes, the dish will need to be re-aimed.  They are sensitive.

Use full length cable if at all possible, if getting new cables, make sure they are RG-6 and NOT RG59.
