ShawDirect - Bluecurve app

I am wondering if someone can explain the logic in this problem...

Though I am ShawDirect, the bluecurve app works essentially the same and I see the list of available channels, no problems there.  What I am wondering is why do I continually get blackout messages when trying to watch TSN?  I have TSN on my package so why in the world does it make me leave Bluecurve and go to TSN directly (which I can then log into with my Shaw credentials) when I need to stream?  Now before you comment, I know about local blackouts (IE. certain sports, etc).  For example, last night I was trying to watch the Canada semi-final in the Gretzky cup on TSN 3...blacked out on the app but I can watch it directly on the receiver.

Is this all because TSN, for example, is a Bell Media network?
