What manufacturer and model-number of TV and for your Shaw modem/router?
Are you using an Ethernet cable to connect to your Shaw modem/router, or have you connected the TV's "WiFi" to Shaw your modem/router?
If an Ethernet cable, when you plug it into the Shaw modem/router, a lamp in the immediate vicinity should light up.
If an Ethernet cable, when you plug it into your TV, a lamp in the immediate vicinity should light up.
If you are using your TV's WiFi, what is the distance (and the number & composition of the walls) between the TV and the Shaw modem/router?
If you login to the Shaw modem/router's web-interface, is the TV listed as being assigned an IP-address?
