How to power cycle your modem and router

In order to reboot your modem or router, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug the power cord from your Shaw modem.
  2. Unplug the power cord from your router.
  3. Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back into your modem.
  4. Wait a few minutes until the modem comes back online.
  5. Plug the power cord back into your router.
  6. Restart your computer.
  7. Test your Internet connection.

Troubleshooting your router

If you are still experiencing issues after following the above steps, follow these steps to bypass your router:

  1. Unplug the power cord from your Shaw modem.
  2. Shut down your computer.
  3. Disconnect one end of the Ethernet cable from the router.
  4. Plug the free end of the Ethernet cable into your computer.
  5. Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back into your modem.
  6. Wait a few minutes until the modem comes back online.
  7. Turn your computer on.
  8. Test your Internet connection
