You're moving to a new home, now leave the complicated stuff to us! When moving, you can take your Shaw services with you and avoid a disruption to your Internet, TV or Phone. Just let us know when and where you're moving, and we'll help make it easy.

Set up your move

Contact us to get your move started, it's best to give us a couple weeks notice if possible. When you chat with us online, we can help make sure you're ready to request a move, and compile all your information.

Make sure that you're ready to plan your move with us. When we chat we'll need:

  • Your new address.
    • Be sure to let us know of any special considerations (a newly built house may need more time to install, and with a condo or apartment we may need access to a utility closet).
  • Dates: The day you're leaving the old address and the day you need services connected at your new address.
  • Contact information:  In case we need to get hold of you during the move.

Note: Ask if you can Self Connect at your new home; move on your own time and terms, we're always there for you

Installation tips

Whether you've opted for a professional install, or your new home is able to be Self-Connected, here's some things to consider for the day of your move.

Professional Installation

  • Sign up for SMS text appointment reminder for the technician.
  • Unpack your Shaw equipment where you want it connected.
  • Make sure no furniture is blocking the outlets you'll need.
  • Make sure someone over the age of 18 is home when the installer arrives.

Self-Connect

  • Pack up your Shaw equipment with all the cords for easy set up later.
  • Visit our Self-Connect page for more specific instructions on connecting your equipment.
  • Enjoy your services being ready when you are.

 Is there a charge for moving Shaw services?

  • No! Moving is always free with Shaw.

Can I hook up my equipment at the new address myself?

  • Most TV and/or Internet customers can Self Connect their equipment at their new address. This depends on the location and equipment, so please check with a Shaw representative first.

How far in advanced should I book my move?

  • 2-4 weeks notice is recommended to ensure we can schedule the exact time and date that works for you.

What are the different ways can I schedule my move?

Can I change my services or upgrade equipment during a move?

  • You got it! Moving is the perfect time to review your service, especially as your needs may change with the new address.

Can I make changes to the appointment after I book it?

  • Absolutely! Adding services later usually requires rescheduling - so, if possible, go over your bundle and make any changes during the initial booking.

What if I need to cancel services? 

  • We are sorry to see you go! Cancellation of service must be done over the phone and with the account holder or fully authorized person.

How do I check to see if I can get Shaw services at my new address?

  • You can enter your address at Shaw.ca to see if your new area is serviceable. See here for a full guide.
