Two-step verification is a security measure for your My Shaw account. When it's enabled, login attempts will trigger a 6-digit pin code to be sent to you by SMS text or email— your choice — and entering that pin code into the My Shaw website (my.shaw.ca) will grant you access to your account. This added verification step is optional and only used when logging in through the My Shaw website — not the My Shaw mobile app.

Set up two-step verification

The first time you log in to the My Shaw website, you will prompted to set up two-step verification for your account. Every login attempt after that, you will receive a new 6-digit code that expires after 30 minutes.

  1. Visit my.shaw.ca.
  2. Sign in using your Shaw ID and password.
  3. On the pop-up that opens, choose how you would like to receive your 6-digit pin code
    • To receive an SMS text message, add your phone number and click Send Code.
    • To receive an email, add your email address and click Send Code.
  4. Open the text message or email you receive and copy the 6-digit code.
  5. Back in the website pop-up, enter your 6-digit code and click Verify.

If you clicked Skip for now the first time you were prompted to set up two-step verification, you can initiate the setup process anytime.

  1. Visit my.shaw.ca.
  2. Sign in using your Shaw ID and password.
  3. Click My Profile and scroll down to My Shaw IDs.
  4. In the 2-Step Verification column next to a Shaw ID, click Set Up.
  5. Enter your phone number or email address.
  6. Click Send Code.
  7. Open the text message or email you receive and copy the 6-digit code.
  8. Back in the website pop-up, enter your 6-digit code and click Verify.

To add a second two-step verification method to your account — SMS if you already email, or email if you already added SMS — repeat steps 1 through 8 above.
