I just received a request in the paper mail from Shaw with Rogers for a void cheque for ” pre-authorized debit authorization” for my Shaw with Rogers home accounts. There was no cover letter and we already have automated payments setup for years.
Has Shaw with Rogers started converting our Shaw home accounts over to Rogers(Shaw) accounts like they did for our Shaw mobile phones?
If so, then they should have 1. Included a cover letter explaining the change and 2. Just let us add to our mobile phones account as we really do not need two separate accounts with Rogers(Shaw), do we?

I talked to Shaw/Rogers. It looks to have been a clerical error.
@tc10 , Seems pretty fishy to me, some sort of scam letter.
@tc10 Scam
it has my name, address and Shaw account number. I will call them tomorrow. Strange as we have not made Account changes so thought SHAW might have started converting home accounts ? And looks like their envelopes.
@tc10 , Yes I would call them just to be sure. First time hearing about this, looks legit but looks can be deceiving. Who uses the old "Void Cheque" way of doing auto-withdrawals.
@tc10 I take it back, this does look legit, but yes call or ignore. It seems odd that they would have you mailing (or faxing) a blank cheque, rather than just setting it up over the phone, chat, or on my.shaw.ca. If it didn’t say Rogers on the envelope and letterhead, I would have thought that maybe that letter was lost in the mail for 15 years 😂😂😂.
I saw a news story this evening talking about how AI is making scams look more real.
😀😀😂
I will let you know what I find out …!
@tc10 , just received my bill today and thought I'd let you know that there was zero notice of any billing changes whatsoever, everything seems exactly the same. You have me curious.

@tc10 , gee that's a stupid error. Glad you were smart enough to ask questions before ever just accepting the letter at face value.
