Shaw is committed to delivering Canadians access to the best network experience possible. We are on a mission to be Canada’s leading connectivity company and are always working to expand our network to meet the growing data needs of our customers.

As part of this expansion, we have begun leveraging a feature on the Ignite WiFi Gateway (Gen 1 and Gen 2) (formerly known as Fibre+ Gateway) (XB6 & XB7) and Hitron modems that provides the ability to broadcast a secondary WiFi network from a single home modem. This secondary WiFi network is accessible by Shaw Mobile and Freedom Mobile customers to keep them better connected, with no impact to wired in-home broadband connection or data usage.

What is ShawMobileHotspot?

ShawMobileHotspot is a secondary WiFi network that runs parallel to the primary, password-protected, private home network, with no impact to wired in-home broadband connection or data usage.

Shaw Internet customers no longer have to share their private network information to Shaw Mobile and Freedom Mobile customers, and eligible mobile customers get improved indoor coverage by accessing a network of Rogers WiFi Hotspots broadcast from Shaw Internet customers’ home modems.

This network can be easily enabled or disabled from the web version of My Shaw.

How to enable or disable ShawMobileHotspot

If you have a capable modem, the ShawMobileHotspot SSID is automatically enabled on your modem. ShawMobileHotspot can be turned on or off for eligible modems by logging into the web version of My Shaw. This feature is not available through the My Shaw App.

  1. Login to My Shaw using your Shaw ID and password.
  2. Select Internet from the My Services drop down drawer at the top of the page.
  3. Scroll down the page until you reach the Shaw Hotspot tile.
  4. Click on the Enable or Disable button to either begin or stop broadcasting the ShawMobileHotspot SSID.
