This article provides the information that you will need to change your WiFi password on an SMC Wireless Modem. To change the password for the wireless network on your Shaw wireless modem, you will need to log into the admin console which will allow you to configure various settings related to your wireless network. Before proceeding, ensure that you have an ethernet cable connecting your modem and computer/laptop.

Changing passwords on your SMC Wireless Modem

In order to change your WiFi password on your SMC Modem, you will first need to access the router setting of the modem. Follow these instructions to change your WiFi settings:

  1. Navigate to the SMC Admin Console by typing 192.168.0.1 in your internet browser (at the top of your page).

  2. Log In with the following information:
    • Username: cusadmin
    • Password: You can find the password printed on the white sticker on the side or top your Shaw wireless modem (SMC), referred to as the Pre-shared Key or Password

  3. Select Wireless
  4. Choose Encryption

  5. Enter the desired password into the Pre-Shared Key field. The Pre-Shared Key must be between 8 to 63 characters in length and is case-sensitive (assuming that WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK is in use for the security mode).  (Click image for an expanded view)

  6. Select Apply

Did you know: It is always a good idea to document your WiFi settings such as your network name and Wi-Fi password just in case you forget them or are required to re-enter your wireless network information in the future.
