Rogers Xfinity just got smarter with controls for popular smart lighting, plugs, thermostats and door locks—all in the same convenient app where you manage and protect your home WiFi network and connected devices. All you need is the Rogers Xfinity app and a compatible smart home device.

Note: Smart home devices can be controlled by anyone with access to the Rogers Xfinity app, whether they’re signed in with a primary or secondary Shaw ID.

What you'll need

To control your smart devices with Rogers Xfinity, you'll need the following:

  • An Rogers Xfinity Gateway ,
  • The Rogers Xfinity app,
  • A compatible smart home device, installed following the manufacturer’s instructions, and
  • Your login credentials for the smart home device or manufacturer.

Compatible devices

Select smart devices from these brands are compatible with Rogers Xfinity:

Note: The device will need to be installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions and connected to your home network. For details and technical specifications, visit the manufacturer's website by selecting them from this list.

How to add a device

Follow these steps to add a compatible smart device to Rogers Xfinity.

Note: Before you begin, make sure you’ve set up your smart device according to the manufacturer’s instructions and have that login information ready. For more information on device support, check out the Compatible devices section.

  1. Open the Rogers Xfinity app.
  2. Sign in with your Shaw ID username and password.
  3. Select the Home tab, then select the plus sign (+) Add smart devices
  4. Select the device you want to add.
  5. Select Link Now.
  6. You will be brought to the product login page for your device. Select Authorize to allow the device to be linked to Rogers Xfinity.
  7. A confirmation message is shown. Select Finish.

How to remove a device

Follow these steps to remove (unlink) a smart device from Rogers Xfinity.

  1. Open the Rogers Xfinity app.
  2. Sign in with your Shaw ID username and password.
  3. Select the Home tab in the bottom navigation.
  4. Select the plus sign (+) at the top right corner, then select the device you want to unlink.
  5. Select the Unlink all button at the bottom.

Note: Unlinking a device will remove your ability to control it from the Rogers Xfinity app. The device will still show up in the WiFi tab of Rogers Xfinity, as long as it's connected to your home network.

Smart home controls

Go to the Home tab in Rogers Xfinity for your smart home control view. Here you'll be able to access all of your linked smart home devices in one spot.

Thermostat controls

  • HVAC mode
  • Set points
  • Fan mode
  • Presence mode (Home/Away/Sleep)
  • Manufacturer's app may have additional features

Lighting controls

  • Power on/off
  • Brightness
  • Color: White temperature and colors
  • Manufacturer's app may have additional features

Door locks

  • Lock and unlock doors
  • Check the lock status of a door
  • Receive notifications for locked/unlocked/left unlocked
  • Set automated lock schedules (Unlock schedules are not included at this time)
  • Manufacturer's app may have additional features
