Like a paper shredder, McAfee's Shredder tool will securely and permanently delete digital documents you no longer want. You can rest easy knowing that shredded files can't be recovered and won't fall into the wrong hands.

How it works

You can choose which folders the Shredder should shred:

  • Recycle Bin
  • Temporary Internet Files
  • External hard drives
  • USB drives
  • Floppy disks

You can also set the “shred count”. The higher the shred count, the harder it would be to recover the shredded files. Higher shred counts will take longer.

  • Quick: Shreds the selected item once
  • Basic: Shreds the selected item two times
  • Safe: Shreds the selected item five times
  • Comprehensive: Shreds the selected item seven times
  • Complete: Shreds the selected item ten times
