@windward -- Still in the range of 100-177 download but a good improvement.
Not that makes a difference as long as you have 300 Mbps service, but for optimal speed, connect it to any USB 3.0 port on your computer, and connect it to your "5G" WiFi network on your HITRON cable-modem. If you have the BlueCurve modem, then, by default, this device will connect to "5G", unless you have disabled "band-steering", to create two different SSIDs (2.4 or 5.0 Gbit).

Good. Take a close look at the printing on that cable, to ensure that it shows "CAT 5e" (up to 1000 Mbit/second), not just "CAT 5" (maxes-out at 100 Mbps).

It's worth the effort. Check that the desktop has a 10/100/1000 Ethernet adapter, not just 10/100.
