so i had remote desktop setup for my dad on a telus router so he could use his desktop from his laptop, as he has mobility issues, now i cant seem to get it to work at all now that they have changed to Shaw,
im not sure what settings in the shaw router i need to change for it all to work
any help would be appricated
Changing the router probably means that the "local" IP-addresses for each device have changed. If so, you need to reconfigure, to use the new IP-addresses.
That was the first thing i did, and now it wont allow the connection at all, nothing has changed on the computers except the IP address, which i changed in remote desktop, but it still says cant connect.
I just posted my experience with double NAT problem that caused me not to be able to access my USB storage drive. Found this article in PCWorld that helped- "How to identify and resolve double-NAT problems". If you are using a second router connected by ethernet cable it needs to have the NAT function turned off.
