Shaw email works with old Gmail App.

Currently I have a Samsung Tab A from Freedom, and use Shaw Wifi.

I was successfully able to add my @shaw email, both of them, one from an old active account, to the app.

unlike the New IOS Gmail app, the old one (the red M widget or icon) has an IMAP option for “other” or “exchange”

just use the IMAP instructions on Shaw Support, and you ok be fine. I didn’t have to pay too close attention to the Security setting or port number as that was automatic.

in comparison on the IOS mail app, wm.Shaw.ca is your server where in the Gmail App on android, it s the IMAP server. Security is the same I believe, and port number is automatic.

no need to worry about separate outgoing or incoming mail servers.

I have yet to figure out how to use the NEW IOS Gmail app, it has both outgoing and incoming mail servers and you have to pay attention to the security settings and port numbers.

Success setting up Shaw Webmail on Old Android Gmail App on Samsung Tablet

Hey, I’ve seen your article before and I’m sure you be figured it out by now, but I have a Samsung Tablet A with Android current as of July 2020. It has the old Gmail app with the red M, and the ability to set up ALT email through IMAP.

I went through the instructions on Shaw support for IMAP setup, and it worked right away. No need for Outgoing mail or Incoming mail settings just one IMAP server setting, I didn’t pay close attention to the Security or Port numbers by the Shaw support is currently to in those I believe.

The only issue is the new Gmail App on IOS.
it requires both incoming and outgoing mail settings, and the port and security settings matter. Not sure if POP or IMAP or WM.SHAW Is appropriate for that. But the old Gmail App works fine on Android.
