The Ignite TV App (formerly known as BlueCurve TV App) includes the Download-to-go feature, which allows you to "check-out" and download your Ignite TV (formerly known as BlueCurve TV) PVR recordings and select On Demand titles from the Ignite TV App directly to your mobile device. You can watch downloaded content any time without having to be connected to the Internet or use your mobile data.

How to download a title to your mobile device

You can download and watch completed Ignite TV PVR recordings and select On Demand titles from Ignite TV. Downloaded content can be watched outside your home without having to be connected to the Internet or using your mobile data.

Once downloaded to a mobile device, a title will be "checked out" making it accessible only on your mobile device until the title is returned (checked in).

 

Download Ignite TV PVR recordings

  1. Open the Ignite TV App on your mobile device, while connected to any WiFi or mobile network.
  2. Click the Menu button, or swipe from left to right to open the main navigation panel.
  3. Select Recordings under Saved to view a list of your PVR recordings.
  4. In the recording list, select the recording you want to download and then tap Download.

  5. The recording details screen will display a Downloading message and a progress bar of the percentage complete for the download.

  6. Once downloaded, click Watch or to view it right away. Or, click the Menu button and then Downloads to see all of your downloaded shows.

 

Download On Demand titles

  1. Open the Ignite TV App while connected to any WiFi or mobile network.
  2. Click the Menu button, or swipe from left to right to open the main navigation panel.
  3. Under Browse, click the On Demand content you wish to view (i.e., Movies, Sports, Kids).
  4. Available On Demand titles are shown.
  5. To just see titles that are available for download, click Filters at the top and then select Available for Download.

  6. Click on a title to see more information about it.
  7. If the On Demand title is available for download, you can click Download on the info screen.

  8. Once downloaded, click Watch or to view it right away. Or, click the Menu button and then Downloads to see all of your downloaded shows.

Note: Once a title is downloaded with the Ignite TV App, it is accessible only on the specific mobile device which has downloaded the title. This means it cannot be watched anywhere else, including Ignite TV, until the title is returned (checked in), or the 30 day expiry window is reached.

If you're traveling outside of Canada and want to download content to go, be sure to download it before you leave. Content will not be available to download while outside of Canada, but can be viewed if you've already downloaded it ahead of time.

How to return a title from your mobile device

Return a title to your PVR

  1. Open the Ignite TV App on your mobile device, while connected to any WiFi or mobile network.
  2. Click the Menu button, or swipe from left to right to open the main navigation panel.
  3. Select Downloads under Saved to view a list of your downloaded titles.
  4. Select the title you want to return.
  5. Select Return.
  6. In the Return Downloaded Recording prompt, select Yes or Continue to confirm.
  7. Your title is now returned to your PVR and can be watched again on TV and other devices.

Download to go device management

When you first request to download content, the device you are using will automatically be authorized for Download to go use. If you reach your device limit, the Ignite TV App will present you with a message letting you know that you cannot register any more devices.

There are two ways in which you can deauthorize a device from this service so that you can add a new one in its place:

Option One: From the Ignite TV App

From the Ignite TV App, you can select an option to de-authorize the specific device you're using - you can not de-authorize other devices on the account. To access this option, select Settings and then Manage Devices.

Option Two: From My Shaw

Through My Shaw, you can simply remove the device from the authorized list for the Ignite TV App. This will remove access to both the app and de-authorize the device for Download to go. Once your device has become de-authorized you will no longer be able to access the app or any downloaded content.

What is Download to go?

Download to go allows users to select titles to download to their personal devices for playback without an Internet connection. Storage of this content relies on each individual device's internal memory.

Can I download the same recording on multiple devices?

No. When you download a program to your device, it is checked out and cannot be viewed on other devices until it is returned (checked in). This includes set-top boxes in your home.

Can I download titles to my computer from the Ignite TV website?

No. The Download to go feature only works with mobile devices running iOS or Android (i.e., smartphones and tablets).

Can I stream a recording before it's finished recording on my device?

No. Only completed recordings can be downloaded to a mobile device.

How many devices can I use Download to go on?

There is a 5 device limit.

How many titles can I download to each device?

You can download up to 10 titles onto your device. To download more than that you will first need to delete existing downloaded titles.

When do titles expire?

Titles that have been downloaded to a device will be automatically checked back in and become unavailable for offline playback after 30 days.

What happens if I don't return my checked-out programs?

Downloaded titles are automatically returned after 30 days or when you deauthorize a device from using Download to go on your account.

What is the Download to go playback quality?

You will have the choice of "medium" and "high" video playback quality when initiating a download - selecting "high" quality means a larger file size. On smaller displays, the difference in viewing experience between high and medium video quality is not significant, therefore we recommend medium video quality due to its smaller file size.
