Learn how to use the Stocks app that comes with your Ignite TV guide. View recent stock quotes, related new stories and keep track of your favourite stocks right from your TV.
Note: A Shaw or Rogers Internet subscription is required to use apps on Ignite TV (formerly BlueCurve TV).
How to use the Ignite TV Stocks app
With Ignite TV you can view the latest stock quotes, related news stories and follow your favourite stocks with minute-to-minute updates all from the Ignite TV guide. To access and use the Stocks app, follow these steps:
- Press the Shaw button on your remote control.
- Use the right arrow or left arrow keys to navigate to Apps and press OK.
- Use the arrow buttons, highlight Stocks and press OK.
- View the default list of Your Stocks and stocks that are trending under Hot Stocks by using the right and left arrow buttons to toggle.
- Using the arrow buttons, scroll to highlight a stock and press the OK button to view more details about that specific stock.
- To get additional news about the selected stock. Highlight Recent News and press the OK button to view related news articles.
- Use the up and down arrow buttons to highlight a news article. Press the OK button to view the article.
- Press Last to return to your list of stocks, press Exit once to return to the Apps menu, or press Exit twice to return to standard TV viewing.
How to add a stock to the Stocks app
With Ignite TV, you can customize your Stocks app experience by adding your preferred stocks to the Stocks app. Follow your favourite stocks with minute-to-minute updates and news. To add stocks to your app:
- Press the Shaw button on your remote control.
- Use the right arrow or left arrow keys to navigate to Apps and press OK.
- Use the arrow buttons, highlight Stocks and press OK.
- From the Your Stocks Menu use the down arrow button to highlight Add Stock. Press OK.
- Using your Ignite TV remote control, spell the stock symbol or company name using the left and right arrow keys to highlight each letter. Press the OK button to select each letter.
- Stock results that match your search will appear below. Use the down arrow button to highlight the stock you'd like to add, and press the OK button.
- Press Exit twice to return to standard TV viewing, press Exit once to return to the Apps menu, or press Last to return to your list of stocks.
How to remove a stock to the Stocks app
Here are details on how to customize your Stocks list by removing stocks that you no longer want to view from the Ignite TV Stocks app.
- Press the Shaw button on your remote control.
- Use the right arrow or left arrow keys to navigate to Apps and press OK.
- Use the arrow buttons, highlight Stocks and press OK.
- From the Your Stocks Menu use the down arrow button to scroll down and highlight the stock you'd like to remove.
- Press the right arrow button once to highlight the X icon. Press OK.
- You will be asked to confirm if you want to delete the stock. With the Delete option highlighted, press OK.
- The selected stock will now be removed from Your Stocks list.
- Press Exit twice to return to standard TV viewing, press Exit once to return to the Apps menu, or press Last to return to your list of stocks.
