Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about On Demand with our FAQs.

What is the difference between On Demand and Pay Per View?
On Demand allows you to order a title any time you want and gives you a 24-48 hour time frame (depending on the title) to enjoy your order. The time frame starts the moment you place your order. During that time frame, you can Pause, Play, Rewind, or even shut off your Digital Box and come back to watch it later, provided that the time frame for your order has not expired.

Pay Per View does not have this time frame option, however, it is an ideal choice for watching live events such as UFC or WWE as well as other new-release movie titles that only start at scheduled times and can be watched only at the time they are being broadcast.

Is On Demand Free?
On Demand is a free service with both paid and free content. You will need to be a Shaw Television subscriber with either Digital or HDTV programming in order to access and view the selections within the On Demand library.

Why does some content contain advertisements?
Some subscription video on-demand content is ad-supported and will have short, built-in commercial breaks that can't be skipped.

Why can't I Fast Forward some content?
Content that is ad-supported will not allow you to skip forward through the content unless it has dynamic ad insertion enabled on it.

What is Dynamic Ad Insertion?
This allows for more flexible and customizable advertisements in addition to the built in advertisements. Video content with this enabled can skip forward through the content rather than being forced to watch from the beginning.
