What happened to Starz it's gone. I saw nothing about this at all. Saw other channel changes but not this. Yet my bill hasn't gone down?? In fact my bill has gone up $34 since Rogers takeover. What gives??
@Canuck_fan STARZ is no longer included with Crave, you now need to pay extra, I think it’s $5.99.
Thank you for replying. The thing is, I don't subscribe to Crave. I had Starz in my tv channel package. I reread the email I received about the upcoming changes and also looked at my current bill. Nowhere does it mention Starz being removed. I wouldn't even care so much if my bill went down accordingly.
@Canuck_fan I don’t think STARZ was part of any channel package, maybe you had a free preview? Any, it is still available, $10 standalone or $5.99 bundled with Crave.
Wasn't Encore Avenue previously bundled together with Movie Central?
Encore Avenue was rebranded to Starz around 2019 - (due to ownership changes a few years prior)
Movie Central ceased broadcasting around 2015 when "Movie Network" from Ontario became a nationwide service.
At one point there was Encore Avenue 1 and Encore Avenue 2 and .... Encore Avenue 2 was bundled in "Digital Basic" line-ups.
Crave is the previous Movie Network (rebranded)
@Canuck_fan -- I had a two-year Value Plan that ended in October 2024, and STARZ was part of the TV lineup.
When I started a new two-year Value Plan, there was a new name for the TV lineup, and STARZ was not included.
As part of the new V.P., I got the latest TV box & remote control, and my HDPVR was "retired", and I was told that they did not want me to ship it back to them. I recycled it at an end-of-life electronics-recycling depot. I already had the XB7 cable-modem, which connects wirelessly to the new TV box.
The Agent said that I could add STARZ for $10/month (plus taxes). I declined that add-on.
I do watch "Disney Plus with advertisements", which is included in my new Value Plan, for free.
I've had Starz included in my channel lineup for years and it was a large part of me keeping my cable package. It was removed from my channel listings Jan 1./25. No decrease in my bill though. I also am supposed to have 2 free TV box rentals. Since Sept. 15 they said I only get 1 and started charging me $7 for the 2nd one. I don't know how a company can arbitrarily change their contracts like this with. I am now at 45 mins waiting for customer service to talk about these changes. I'm not hopeful about a resolution so Shaw/Rogers is about to lose a 30+ year customer because I'm fed up.
I just got off the phone with "customer service" with exactly that same problem. The 2 Starz channels have been included in my (very old) cable package for 25 years now, and suddenly they're gone! The guy said they have already taken them and they can't be put back and we all know that's crap. I'm so upset, I really don't know what to do. We don't have a lot of options here in Canada, do we?
@Dudette STARZ Canada has only been around since 2019, before that it was called Encore. I noticed that Prime has it as an add-on for $5.99.
Yes, you're right - it was called Encore, but, unfortunately, that doesn't justify Shaw removing the two movie channels that I've had for as long as I have been a customer. I don't have any extra streaming stuff - no Netflix, Prime,Crave, Peacock, Apple etc. - just regular TV. I sometimes wish I could be a "cord cutter" - but I don't exactly know how to do that. 🤔 I only got my first "smart" TV last year!
