and why does it cause the Screensaver to activate instead of returning to the previous programming when the box restarts?
Why do I have to manually exit the Screensaver to return to the previous programming?
If it is just that easy, how about writing the code to make it happen?
@4Help -- some time after you stop watching, the BlueCurve will stop downloading content from the channel you are watching, because there is no sense in downloading content that you are not watching. One "click" on your remote-control causes the downloading (of the previously-watched channel) to resume.
Thank you for your reply.
That is what I figured the reason was but I didn't want to jump to conclusions.
Funny thing Internet Browsers don't have to restart or shutdown my Device down to do that. The ones that are constantly listening can sell my activity almost intantly to provide intuitive Ad content.
Having our activities monitored is the reality we live in and the 4K Box is only different in that it has to wait till a two hour block of it's or my choosing to exchange packets of info with Shaw's Database.
I unwilling accept that. My first problem is the fact that Shaw knows and warns me that any Recordings I have set could be impacted.
Second issue is that after they do their communication the restart causes the Screensaver to unnecessarily engage. There is no way to stop the products advertisement from displaying as what made it come up has nothing to with the Screensaver setting options.
There is no reason for the Screensaver to come up.
I was on a call with tech about this, put on hold so the tech could look into what they agree didn't see to make sense. After a long wait and previous experience I realized they were not going to come back.
I came here hoping someone might also have experienced issues similar to mine with the 4K device and might know how to resolve the issue that causes the Screensaver to show.
Oops, I missed what you were saying. I am no longer able to follow other people's trains of thought like when I was younger. I apologise.
Not the same issue but still helped me see what was happening more clearly.
@4Help You can change the time that the update happens and turn off the screensaver.

Thank you for your response.
I found that the daily update default time was in the middle of the night which seemed like it was convenient. I occasionally record shows in the early morning so I guess I will have to change the time on those nights.
My experience is there is no way to totally turn the Screensaver off which is an annoyance. Under normal circumstances like when the guide or the on demand screen or a reminder or I watch a channel for an extended period of time the Screensaver takes over the TV Screen and quiets the Audio.
That being said there is a logic that can be applied to those situations. Nothing in the update process fits the criteria which should cause the activation of the Screensaver. The reboot of the Box should return the box to the channel and program that was there before the update. It is deliberate or bad code that is putting the Screensaver up in a situation not defined in the Settings.
Shaw should be able to fix the issue. Having worked for Rogers I would say they won't be inclined to do anything for the customer.
