Who can do a Vacation Suspension?

To do a Vacation Suspension you need to meet all of the following criteria:

  • Account is in good standing,
  • Auto payments are set up,
  • Minimum suspension time: 30 days,
  • Maximum suspension time: 180 days in that calendar year, and
  • Rental equipment must be kept (equipment rental fees may apply for the duration of the suspension).

If you’ve met all of the requirements above, you can contact us to arrange a Vacation Suspension for your services.

How much does a Vacation Suspension cost?

Monthly charges and optional fees

  • Vacation Suspension for internet services is available for $10 a month.
  • Vacation Suspension for TV and phone is available at no cost.
  • Voicemail can be kept active for the duration of your home phone service suspension for a small fee.

Equipment fees

Please be aware that, if you’re paying a rental fee for equipment, this fee may continue to be charged while your account is suspended. Make sure to check with your representative when you contact us to request the Vacation Suspension. You don’t need to return your rental equipment during this period.

Will any related services still work when suspended?

The service you’ve suspended (internet, TV or home phone) won’t work during the period you’ve set, but some related services will still be available.

Shaw email and voicemail

  • Your Shaw email remains active as part of Vacation Suspension for internet.
  • Your Rogers WiFi Hotspots (formerly Shaw Go WiFi) will remain active for 10 devices as part of Vacation Suspension for internet.
  • Voicemail can be kept active for the duration of your phone service suspension for a small fee.
  • Please contact us for more details on which services will stay active while your service is suspended.

Security systems

If you have a home security system, monitoring system, or Home Automation, it will usually run through an internet or phone line and may require a certain speed or bandwidth. Make sure that you don’t suspend the service(s) that supports them if you wish to keep these security systems running while you are away.

How does the temporary suspension affect my plan?

Promotions

  • Promotion and discount end dates are unchanged, and applicable promotions are ignored while on Vacation Suspension, including bundled promotions.
  • Promotions and discounts will still apply when services are resumed if they have not expired during the Vacation Suspension.

2-year ValuePlans

  • If you are currently signed up for a 2-year ValuePlan, the ValuePlan term continues during Vacation Suspension.
  • If your ValuePlan term expires during Vacation Suspension, your services will resume on a month-to-month basis at the market price at the end of your suspension period.

Re-connecting

When your Vacation Suspension ends, your account will resume automatically on the final day. Your services will resume with the same plans as when the suspension was started.

If you need to reconnect early, or push the date out, you can chat with us to adjust the date of your re-connection. Please take into consideration that the new re-connection date must still adhere to the original minimum of 30 days and maximum of 180 days in a calendar year.
