How to use the Web Remote
The Web Remote can be accessed from any computer or mobile device and has the same controls as your regular Rogers Xfinity voice remote. Follow the steps below to access and use the Web Remote:
- Go to webremote.shaw.ca in a web browser on any desktop computer, laptop, or mobile device.
- You will be prompted to allow access to your device's microphone. This is required if you wish to say voice commands. Voice commands may be entered with text if you don’t use your microphone.
- Click the Log in button and sign in with your Shaw ID and password.
- Select the TV box you'd like to control.
- TV boxes are labelled by friendly name (for example, "Living Room" or "Bedroom"). Only TV boxes on the account associated with your Shaw ID will show up.
- You will be taken to the Accessible Web Remote page with the standard remote button layout.
- To customize your Web Remote, click the menu (☰) at the top left and select My Remote. See How to customize the Web Remote below to learn more about how to configure it.
- Select the command you wish to perform by clicking the button on-screen. Unavailable commands are greyed out (TV Power, Mute, etc.).
- To perform a voice command, click the Voice Search button in the Standard Remote view, then say a voice command into your device’s microphone (for example, “Netflix” or “YouTube”). Click the Voice Search button again to perform the voice command.
- Note: If the voice search button is not clicked close enough to when you finished speaking your command then no search will be performed.
Commands performed from the Web Remote will work on your TV instantly—just as if you were using a regular TV remote.
How to customize the Web Remote
Note: This is a beta feature (in development) and may not always work as expected.
You can customize the Web Remote to use voice commands with a single button click. Create your own buttons or choose from a list of pre-built buttons for common apps (Netflix, YouTube, etc.). Follow the steps below to learn how to customize your Web Remote experience:

- Click the Log in button and sign in with your Shaw ID and password.
- Click the menu (☰) at the top left and choose My Remote then Configure My Remote.
- Add custom buttons by clicking Add button and Popular buttons on the right.
- Add button lets you create a custom button by typing a desired voice command. This can be any word or phrase that could be spoken into the voice remote.
- Popular buttons include preset commands organized by category (Apps, Music, Accessibility, etc.). Accessibility buttons include Closed Captions, Audio Description, Voice Guidance, and Descriptive Video Service.
- Click Save when you're done adding buttons.
Once saved, you'll be taken to My Custom Remote. Your custom buttons are shown on the left alongside the standard remote buttons.
