Quick Setup

The following is for an IMAP account, which is the recommended type of account to sync with your Shaw email. With IMAP you can access your email from multiple devices.

Incoming mail server info

Account Types

Which Email Setup is Right for Me?

There are two different ways you can set up your Shaw email account on your Apple computer. Generally, we suggest using IMAP for macOS Mail setup, but each type has its own benefits.

IMAP Setup (Recommended)

These settings are for an IMAP account, which is the recommended type of account to sync with your Shaw email. IMAP leaves your emails on the server, allowing you to read and manage emails using multiple computers, devices, and email apps. For alternate account types, such as POP, please see the Account Types section.

  1. Open your Apple macOS Mail application
  2. Select Add Other Mail Account... 147190_pastedImage_7

     

  3. Click Continue
  4. Enter your name, Shaw email address, and your email password 147191_pastedImage_35

     

  5. Click Sign In 147192_pastedImage_11

     

  6. Click Done

POP Setup

Apple Mail on macOS El Capitan (10.11) and macOS Sierra (10.12) do not automatically support POP mail settings.

It is recommended that you use IMAP on newer macOS versions of Mail.

  1. Open your Apple macOS Mail application
  2. Select Other Mail Account... 147193_pastedImage_7

     

  3. Click Continue
  4. Enter your name, Shaw email address, and email password 147194_pastedImage_35

     

  5. Click Next

    If it says Create, press and hold the Option key on your keyboard. This will change Create to say Next instead.         

  6. Enter Incoming Mail Server Information 
    Account Type POP
    Mail Server pop.shaw.ca
    Username Your Shaw email with "@shaw.ca"
    Password Your Shaw email password
  7. Enter the Outgoing Mail Server Information 
    SMTP Server mail.shaw.ca
    Username Your Shaw Email with "@shaw.ca"
    Password Your Shaw email password
  8. Click Save
