I have been experiencing the exact same issues listed in this forum. I just got off of the phone with Shaw tech support, and she suggested that I post here as there might be a myriad of others who have experienced this same issue with solutions or suggestions.

Sadly, I do not see any suggestions OR solutions.

We pay for shaw 150/15. I livestream to twitch. The upload speeds will go from completely fine (I stream at 6000 bitrate, my stream experiences no interruptions) to horrendous (anywhere from 0 to 3000 bitrate, everywhere in between.. for hours on end. sometimes days. sometimes only minutes)

This is ABSURD. I've had multiple routers replaced. I've had multiple technicians come to diagnose. They all think they found something, but none of them have fixed ANYTHING.

Shaw Internet CANNOT Stream To Twitch Properly.

I just made a similar post as I seem to be having the exact same issues. I have not had the misfortune of being in this situation for 4+ years but I have the exact same symptoms it seems.

I was mislead and upgraded to Shaw300 being advised that I might need a faster upload speed...well guess what happened yesterday. I think I actually had the worst results ever and when asking support was told "green lights, Ookla looks good and you are using 15% of your upload, thats not bad..." Thing is, why could I not use more on my end when I was trying to use closer to what should be 40% to LiveStream?

I was advised upgrading and paying for 20 Mbps should fix the issue and like a fool I believed them... thanks Shaw... been using the service and thinking you were the bee's knees for years and I just got ripped off hard...?

After talking to a twitch streamer on here (she streams nightly and as a full time occupation and hasn't had any non-RF related issues), I started streaming myself.

Has anyone tried streaming via restream.io (easy to configure streamlabs OBS to use their ingest servers) and then they re-encode and stream out to twitch, mixer, and youtube all at once.

I've had zero issues, and can put out a 4.9 Mbps stream without problem to restream.io. If you don't want to do anything fancy, their service is free.

Give it a shot.

I mean, liked I said, I don't really use or watch any other streaming services other than Twitch. Watching YouTube videos and whatnot seems to be no problem, but yeah. Streaming to Twitch is awful for me and has been for years.

I have not personally contacted Twitch Support as they happen to have a page with many different steps/ways to troubleshoot frame drop/bandwidth problems to Twitch. I've done them all several times over the years, and the last step that they have is to contact my ISP. Which of course, I've done so dozens of times.

Again, it seems like it's either some sort of networking issue to Twitch, or somehow it's some sort of frequency issue that no one has picked up on yet. I honestly have NO idea. All I know is that I've tried absolutely everything that I could possibly do. Including testing things on a different PC.

Are there other humans, devices, or applications in in location and using your Shaw internet service while you are streaming? What are they and what are they doing?

What does your network setup look like? What equipment? How is it connected? How is it configured? Wifi? Wired?

What applications are you using?

Can you post a speed test from directly wired to the modem?

Can you post WinMTR results from directly wired to the modem?

Does your streaming machine run any antivirus, anti-malware, anti-<something>, or internet security software? What OS? What software?

Have you tried a re-broadcasting service like restream.io ? (Same issues there would indicate its not a Shaw to Twitch issue).

This complaint could have a lot of causes, and there are streamers that are not having these issues on the Shaw network (I follow some now).

I've streamed for years to Twitch at the highest quality possible. Currently stream consistently at 1080p 60fps with no problems at all, and have never had any problems myself... I typically stream out with 5,000 video bitrate from OBS.

It turns out that this is actually a speed drop issue, not just a streaming related problem or anything to do with Twitch, etc.

I've done more and more testing over the last month or so, and it's definitely NOT:

the modem (gone through probably a dozen in total)

the ethernet cable (I've tried 6 or 7 of different cables)

the computer (I've tested this on multiple devices, including: my phone, my xbox, another computer & a laptop)

the coax cable, the splitter or even the line coming into the house (everything is brand new as of right now, literally everything)

So at this point, the reasoning for the drops is either: infrastructure related, some sort of intense traffic shaping that I'm simply being lied to about, or there's a serious physical problem OUTSIDE that no one is picking up on (somehow).

I've been dealing with this issue since 2014, and the issue still exists. This is seriously unacceptable.

Just to make things clear as for what is happening at this point, by the way.... is that my speeds (currently paying for Internet 150) will always test as they should if I do a speed test, 99.9% of the time. However, if I start streaming at 3k bitrate (aka at about 3mbps upload), my upload speed will drop below 1mbps, at random, for any amount of time it seems.

***** ALSO ***** worth noting: I had someone come here the other day (Wednesday) and he basically got out of his truck and just started replacing the line coming into the house going into the two way splitter from outside. Then just before leaving, he said that the issue has been passed on to an "in home specialist" who will be monitoring my modem for the next few days in case the new line didn't fix the issue (which no, it didn't) and this person would be calling me by the end of the week at the latest to talk about the issue.

Well, it's Sunday and I still received that call, and I still cannot stream properly whatsoever. This is beyond ridiculous at this point.

If someone can't help, this will be the last and final month that I continue to pay Shaw for their (apparent) services.

I recently had a "senior" technician come by to address my internet speed issue (he looked suspiciously like every other technician) after having to call the CCTS when they weren't giving me the internet speed I paid for and wouldn't lower my bill accordingly. The technician came by, hooked an ethernet cable to my comp from the modem and did a speed test. I thought the issue was resolved (sure seemed simple for what I had to go through to get a 3 foot cable) until I turned on my streaming software and discovered I was hemorrhaging frames at an exponential rate. Even with my lousy internet that came with my rent at my previous place 3 blocks away I never had dropped frames (dozens of dropped streams, you bet). Now my dropped frames average 40% (been as high as 85%) to the point I have to abandon my job/stream or do this at 10fps which is unworkable. I have tried every fix imaginable and short of buying a whole new system I don't know what's left. I'm really unhappy and I don't know what more I can do on my end. The kbps box on OBS when I'm streaming changes colours like a Christmas tree. There's no stability. I am in danger of losing my business and nothing has changed on my end, nothing. I'm sorry to hear others are having difficult experiences with Shaw internet as well. If there is an equipment spec minimum I require to use the service that should be clearly expressed before selling this product to unwitting customers. Best luck to the rest of you. I think I must find a new provider.

I need to stream through Restream.io for Twitch to work, and it works 100% fine through Restream.io. Twitch has NEVER worked with Shaw.

Also since November I've been getting consistent micro disconnects playing multiplayer games, and I know for a fact I am not the only person in the Vancouver area getting this issue. Techs and customer service via calls continue to offload the blame to the end user refusing to accept it's an issue on their end, when it clearly is.

I don't know why I waste my money with this company as they do not care about their customers or fixing issues that many of us are actually having.
