I'm sort of wondering whether the heat is is part of my WiFi speed issues - devices I know are more than capable are only hitting 1Mbps - 80Mbps (they are capable, easily of 2 - 3 times that speed).
I have some investigating to do, I guess.
@ziggurcat -- note that "Wireless G" is capable of 56 Mbps, and "Wireless N" is capable of 150 Mbps. Some "Wireless N" adapters can "bond" multiple channels, to produce 300 or 450 Mbps. The "Wireless AC" adapters are capable of 1300 Mbps.
Is your cable-modem capable of "Wireless AC" ?
The XB6 is capable of Wireless AC, so I should be seeing reasonably fast speeds on my newer devices. I *think* my iPhone 12 mini should be able to get up to 866Mbps, but I can't find any specific information about the mini vs. the Pro or Pro Max models (I'm sure the latter are capable of faster speeds). I also don't know if that's theoretical or real-world. Running a few tests just now as I type this, my phone is really just falling in the 250-300Mbps. It's less than what it was reaching last night after letting the modem cool down for almost an hour, but still seems like it's way less than what it should be, but that could easily be pushing its max capabilities. I did check the modem settings to make sure that it was set to a/n/ac.
