@andsoitgoes -- after changing to "bridged" mode, power-off everything (Shaw box, your router, your computer & your WiFi devices). Disconnect your computer from the Shaw box. Power-on the Shaw box, and let it fully restart. Power-on your router, and let it fully restart. Power-on your computer, and (assuming that you have an Ethernet cable between your computer and your router) access the web-server interface inside your router. The WAN interface in your router should show a "public" IP-address, obtained from Shaw's DHCP-server. Your computer should show a "private" IP-address, as assigned by the DHCP-server inside your router. What values do you see?
There have been some reports on this discussion forum where when Shaw configures the cable-modem to bridged mode that it is somehow "better" than if you configure it to bridged mode. Strange, if true, but worth a try, as a last resort.
Tried that. Even tried calling Shaw, have been on for the last hour trying to Sort things out. Had an awesome rep who really did their best, but I’m still running empty. The second bridge mode hits im dead in the water.
I can ping. I can tracert. That’s it. Nothing more. No matter what I do. No weird logs on my router at all. Shows a different wan IP than the Shaw modem is getting. Based on how little information im finding I can’t figure out how this isn’t a Shaw issue. Im really tempted to try setting up my mesh network that’s currently an access point and trying to see if that will work, but I’m going to put good money on it not working.
but then what’s the issue? I don’t even know where to turn. I really don’t want a cascading router situation, but it’s clear to me the Shaw modem is not something that will work for my heavy usage.
