@LeeBails -- the renter who was at my place didn't return their equipment
Did the renter take the equipment with them, when they left?
If they try to signup with Shaw/Rogers, using the same name & ID, will Shaw "flag" them, and refuse to give them any service?
Do you still have the equipment?
If so, put it into a box, and take the box to Canada Post, and get them to ship it (at their cost, not your cost) back to Shaw. The unique serial-numbers will let Shaw identify the renter, if their name, not yours, is on the account. With the tracking-receipt that Canada Post will give you, show it to the Collection Agency, to prove that you have returned the equipment.
I expect more from Shaw. I'm incredibly angry they took it this far.
What did you expect Shaw to do? Just "write-off" the unreturned equipment?
Shaw is no different than any other company that "out-sources" bad accounts to a Collection Agency, because it's cheaper to out-source than to have their own employees (not trained in tracing bad customers) try to do it.
