Shaw for some reason closes in bound ports at their end in the modem/router. even with a port forwarding rule setup. sometimes I can get them to open ports when i call into support and get a tech that knows what ports are and how they are used. Static IP accounts usually have the ports open by default but I'm being told shaw doesn't do statics on residential accounts anymore. might get it to work if you use your own router and put theirs in bridge mode
