It seems that certain programs are using the hearing impaired feature even though I set my closed caption feature to “disable” ...... any suggestions on what is wrong? 🤔
Likewise. I have closed captions on my screen even though in Settings it is set to "Disabled" Just can't get rid of it.
The "Closed Captioning" can be enabled/disabled on the Shaw PVR (and Digital Terminal), and also on your TV.
So, in which device(s), namely Shaw box or your TV, are you doing the setting?
Enable C.C. on both devices to see the C.C.
Disable C.C. on both devices to NOT see the C.C.
Experiment #1: disable on one device, and enable on the other device, and observe the result.
Experiment #2: enable on one device, and disable on the other device, and observe the result.
@Handzumm1 Is this happening on all channels or only specific ones? Is all programming on the channel displaying closed-captions, or only certain programs?
Actually ..... I do not have closed captions appearing on the screen ...... I have someone providing commentary in the background ..... which would make the feature I am referring to as “visually impaired”. For instance ..... I have been watching Frasier reruns in the evening on CMT and last night I had background commentary which I never heard before. What is going on? Same for “Everyone Loves Raymond”.

@Handzumm1 it sounds like you have descriptive video enabled. Press the "D" button on your remote to disable it.
Worked for me! Thank you 😊
