That fee is for a "recent release". [Click the "Shaw On Demand" button on your remote. Select one new release. Click to authorize the charge.]

Have you recently returned an older PVR to Shaw/Rogers?  Ask an Agent to confirm that the serial-number of that box is NOT currently associated with your account. Maybe, some other customer received "your" box, and ordered that title.

When I contacted customer service instead of trying to sort out the problem I encountered the rudest person possible.

I had an unpleasant online "chat" with one Agent.  I saved the transcript, printed it, and took it to the nearest Shaw store-front, and showed it to the Manager.  She agreed that it was inappropriate, and said she would be reporting that Agent.  She said that due to "privacy", I would not get any feedback about the employee's employment (or lack of it).

Same program here, 24.99 charge for a vod I didn’t order or watch .  No one has access to any of the devices I own nor is there anyone who has access to any of my passwords. Clearly, given the numbers of individuals reporting the same issue, Shaw has a problem.  The billing rep “graciously” removed the charge on my bill (will verify tomorrow) saying as this was the “first time” this issue arose on my account the fee would be waived. I guess the “next time” this may happen, Shaw would expect me to pay the charges;  news flash Shaw, will not be bullied by some corporation into paying fees for a service I did not specifically order. Fair warning Shaw, if this issue is ongoing, I will stop payment on my account, cancel my account and will, in addition, file a complaint with the CRTC. I urge others who have experienced the same problem to add your voice to this website as, in the eyes of the law, if it’s not documented in writing it didn’t happen.

If you are paying Rogers/Shaw on a month-by-month plan, you can cancel your services at any time, without any financial penalty. Since you have been invoiced, you owe them some money for the services you will be receiving until the next invoice is issued. If you cancel, your final invoice will be adjusted ("you paid for 31 days, and cancelled on the 11th day, so you only need to pay for the days you consumed").

However, if you signed a two-year Value Plan, and you cancel, the "fine-print" in that contract states there is a cancellation fee ($30/month for the remaining months in the 2 years) owed. That is contract law. Of course, if you sign-up with Telus, they may pay that fee, to get you onto a contract with them.

I think that putting a "stop payment" will end up with you being hassled by some Collection Agency, and will reduce your Credit Rating. Double-ouch.  😞
