XFINITY Box

I have an issue with XFINITY recording, if I go to a channel and a program has started, it does not record from the beginning like my Gateway system did. Also, the replay sometime freezes up or looses the voices and you have rewind to make it work. Sometimes the program does not fully record if it goes beyond its normal time.

Nor does the new XFINITY box hold the channel you are on if you want to check a game score, you loose the time away from the channel. Gateway did not loose the channel.

- Xfinity doesn’t allow you to record from the beginning, while watching.

- Freezing and audio drops shouldn’t be happening, try power cycling the modem and TV box or contact Rogers to troubleshoot.

- While setting a series recording, you can add time to stop 3 minutes late, 5 minutes late or 30 minutes late.

- You can’t switch to another channel and pause your original channel. If you want to check scores, hit the C button to bring up the sports app.

Recording to the cloud has limitations.

@DarenKathy -- my Gateway HDPVR did not "record from the beginning", if I switched to the channel, and immediately pressed "record".

However, the Gateway had 6 independent tuners. Each tuner "buffered" to allow "rewind-and-play".

So, I could switch back to any of those 6 channels, and use "record" of the current program.

For the Rogers TV box, click "record" on your current channel, change to your sports-channel, check the scores, and change back to the first channel.  Then, you can "rewind-and-play" that part of the program that is actively being recorded.

On the Rogers TV box, I have experienced audio "dropout" -- just rewind a bit, press "play", and the audio should be working.  Then, speak "minute" into the Rogers remote-control, when you start to see a commercial, to skip 60 seconds of that commercial.  🙂

Same issue.  I used to love popping over to another channel and then back again without having to specifically record a show.

New Xfininty is not as good as Gateway in this regard.   Even when watching from the beginning of a show, If you hit record it only starts at that moment unlike the old Gateway system which would be able to start recording when you started watching channel (unless it was over an hour ago).

If you've hit record and then changed channels while watching live, you also have to go to your recording to watch the recorded show to catch yourself back up to real time.
