If your Shaw cable-modem/router is "bridged", it is not transmitting any WiFi signal; it is your own router that is broadcasting the WiFi signals.
It's probably what is "between" the TV and your own router -- walls, metal appliances, water-pipes & electrical wires inside the walls -- that diminishes the strength of the WiFi signal.
Absolutely, I bridged it because my friends Shaw Hitron has half the range of my WRT1900AC. I'm holding out for the XB7 in the hope that it can preform as well as my Linksys does without bridging, as well as having 4 ports.⚡
