Canadian Federal Government announced this policy early 2022. Will SHAW adjust the price of my internet plan, so I can only pay $20 a month.

@Judykcma79 -- this web-site: https://ised-isde.canada.ca/site/connecting-families/en
states:
* 50/10 megabits per second (Mbps) for $20 a month ...
* The data allotment is also doubling, from 100 GB to 200 GB of usage per month.
* This new phase will also broaden eligibility ... to include low-income seniors receiving the maximum Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS).
* The existing $10 Internet plan will also remain available.
Thank your local Member of Parliament for approving this action.
@Judykcma79 We have a Connecting Families Program to connect low-income Canadian families to the Internet. Please check out the details here.
Thank you for providing me the information.

I am a Shaw customer right now.. TBH, I would not want to switch to Telus.. Saying tgat.... How is he SHAW program 200gb @50mb and Telus us unlimited? here is the link to Telus offering page.
https://www.telus.com/en/social-impact/connecting-canada/internet-for-good?linktype=ge-meganav
Shaw is adhering to the requirements of the program, but it would appear that you have options with Telus.
@VLFberht -- How is the SHAW program 200gb ?
If you logon to the My Shaw Portal, what does it show for your usage for a month? Anything near to 200 Gb ?
Personally, my "download" usage history from this part-month (May 1 to May 18) has been 10 Gb.
Between December 2021 and April 2022, my "download" never exceeded 75 Gb.
So, 200 Gb is well above my actual usage.
I have requested information on this subsidy from the Federal Government months ago .... My account [moderator edit to remove account information] has basic cable (required for security camera) and telephone to provide entry to lobby - also emergency contact for my Doctor and has basic voicemail but you cut off my service after promising to keep it since it is a necessity. I also have Wi-Fi which you have disconnected and so I have no way to contact you to discuss this! I have applied for a provincial assistance programme for low income seniors to pay my rent (over two months behind) and they cover heat, hydro, and water!
