@mdk I will try and explain this in simpler terms. When we ported my dad’s Shaw landline phone number out to another provider, Shaw didn’t text his Shaw landline and ask him to reply “Yes” within 30 minutes.
@rstra -- not so much "simpler" an explanation, but slightly better-written to be less ambiguous.
So, did Shaw contact him, to obtain his permission for his number to be ported? If so, how did Shaw make contact?
The new provider asked for his account number, that was all, the phone service was cancelled and he dropped off the DPT at the Shaw store.
Wireless ports have to be more secure because people use those numbers for multi-factor authentication.
