I'm sure you're right, rstra, that it's time for a service call. I have pulled the battery when doing a reset and that doesn't do the trick either.
I'm hearing impaired so do all my Shaw business such as setting up an appointment to have a Shaw tech come over on SHAW CHAT. But over the past few days I haven't been able to get an actual agent on Shaw Chat, just one of those standard-type help messages that is of no help to me. I don't know what to do as I'm unable to phone Shaw re: my hearing impairment.
Around a year ago a Shaw tech came over and installed Ignite gateway for my cable TV service.

Is there a Shaw/Rogers "store-front" in your city that you can visit?
They probably cannot provide any "technical" support, but they should be able to order a replacement box to be shipped to you, and to schedule a technician to install it.

EDIT: Your cable-modem has a "telephone-out" port. Get Shaw/Rogers to activate that port, and deactivate the flaky telephone-box, and connect your handset (or telephone base-unit) into that port on the cable-modem.
Great suggestion, mdk 👍 There's a Rogers store in my local mall so I'll pay them a visit sometime this week. I bought my cellphone (flip phone) from them a couple years ago so i would be able to text.
My landline phone and phone modem were working well for around a day. All the lights were on solidly on the modem except for the LINK light which I notice from reading online is disabled anyway. And the phone display was no longer showing LINE IN USE and I had a dial tone. Then this morning both were back to their old tricks 🙄
I'll do a post after I visit Rogers this week and let you know how I made out. Thanks a bunch, mdk 😉
