Bridge Mode Questions with a Hitron CGNM-2250

I have a few questions regarding bridging the Hitron we received when we upgraded to the Internet 150 plan a couple of years ago. I want to use our 3rd party router (Netgear AC1900 R7000 model) due to its features as a router.

1. When Shaw enables the bridge mode on their end for the Hitron, if we want to use an ethernet connection for our computers, do we connect it to the Hitron or to our 3rd party router?

2. When bridge mode is enabled for the Hitron, would we be able to use powerline network adapters to connect our computers in other rooms?

3. While Shaw is enabling bridging for the Hitron, will we temporarily lose our internet?

And lastly, who could I contact to assist us in bridging the Hitron?

1. The third party router. After bridge mode is enabled you should only have the third party router connected to the Hitron, nothing else. The wireless on the Hitron will also be disabled by turning on the bridge mode.

2. Yes, but they have nothing to do with one another. You can use powerline adapters with anything, the Hitron, the Netgear, etc.

3. Yes, and you may need to reboot the Netgear after they turn bridge mode on because if it had an address before they enabled bridge mode, it will be wrong after it is enabled.

4. Call Shaw support and they can turn the bridging on in a few minutes.

If you really mean the plural -- "computers" -- and your Hitron is "bridged", the answer is both "yes" and "no":

If you have your own router connected to the bridged-mode Hitron, one of the LAN ports on the router can connect to a Powerline adapter. Then, in another location, one computer can connect to another Powerline adapter.

If you run an Ethernet cable from the bridged-mode Hitron directly to a Powerline adapter, then you will need to connect your own router to another Powerline adapter, presumably in a different room in your home. Then, your computers (plural) can connect to your own router. The two Powerline adapters "bridge" between the Hitron and your own router.
