Emails I send are being tagged as suspected junk mail

I send out emails, and bcc myself on them, and most of them are tagged as suspected junk mail when I receive them.  This causes my recipients to not receive my emails in their inboxes as the messages are sent to their junk mail folders.  How do I get Shaw to recognize my own email address as not spam?  I have tried every kind of filter and setting available, and nothing works.

@cagey -- are you sending from an E-mail program on your computer (Thunderbird, Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Windows 10 Mail) or sending through Shaw WebMail?

Can you view all the Internet headers of one of those "BCC:" messages that Shaw has tagged as "suspected junk mail", and post those headers here? The headers will show your E-mail ID in a few places -- you can "XXXXXX" it out, to maintain the confidentiality of your ID.

Please read some related threads on this forum:

  1. Mail now says Shaw suspected junk mail
  2. My wife's email get's flagged as SPAM
  3. Email from a fellow shaw suscriber now identified as SPAM
  4. Shaw Suspected Junk Email
  5. Lots of emails won't go through. Says they are spam when they are not.

to see if anything is applicable to your situation.

That seems to be a non-Shaw IP-address:

Net Range 192.111.132.0 - 192.111.132.255
Name HOSTINGSERVICES
Parent TOTAL-SERVER-SOLUTIONS (NET-192-111-128-0-1)
Registration Date 2016-03-29
Last Updated 2016-03-29

Organization: Name Hosting Services, Inc.
1050 West Pender Street
Vancouver
BC

and you are sending from a non-Shaw IP-address to your Shaw E-mail ID, via "BCC:".

Without seeing the "body" of the E-mail, I don't know which words (or phrases) in the "body" caught the attention of Shaw's spam-filters.

What is the ratio of ordinary words in the "body" to the number of hyperlinks? Spammers sometimes write "please see" and then add a hyperlink to their web-site.

I am sending the emails from my home where we have Shaw internet, but connected via a Google wifi router.  We had to set up the additional router since the Shaw combined modem/router wouldn't transmit a wifi signal more than about 30 feet from the modem.

Here is the text of the email message (with names x'ed out):

Hi Xxx,

Xx can’t make it tomorrow night, but XXX will take his place on the bases.  The coach will pay you at the game.

Thanks!

-XX

I also submitted my hours worked to my boss in another email just now and it got labelled as suspected junk mail as well.

It would be appreciated if there was an option to turn off the labelling as suspected junk mail.

@cagey -- It would be appreciated if there was an option to turn off the labelling as suspected junk mail.

Spammers would love to have that option for the junk Email that they send.

Via My Shaw, each person with a Shaw E-mail ID can enable/disable the tagging, for E-mail that they receive.

> I also submitted my hours worked to my boss in another email just now and it got labelled as suspected junk mail as well.

Are you looking at his copy of the message, or did you "BCC:" yourself, to view your message?  In other words, did the boss see the tag? Is your boss using Shaw E-mail, or E-mail through some other provider?

Have you configured your E-mail filtering to flag any incoming message that cites your ID in the "FROM:" field to be "spam" E-mail? Spammers sometimes do that -- putting your ID in both the "FROM:" and "TO:" fields.

I purposely have no filtering whatsoever on any of my emails.

Here is the message and header from a message that Outlook sent while testing my settings.  That message was also flagged as Shaw suspected junk mail.

This is an e-mail message sent automatically by Microsoft Outlook while testing the settings for your account.
